Egerton university closes indefinitely after lecturer’s strike

Over the recent few weeks, Universities in the country have been closing because of strikes by non teaching and teaching staff who want a salary increment.

This afternoon, the latest casualty of these strikes is Egerton University on its main campus in Njoro, Nakuru County.

The University has closed down because of a strike by teaching and non teaching staff who want their needs met as soon as possible.

Students have been told to vacate the premises and a date of their return back to class will be communicated later.

This will come as a blow to those students who had hoped to graduate this year as the Coronavirus pandemic had seriously affected learning.

The lecturers and the non teaching staff of the prestigious institution want the institution’s administration to pay them what is owed to them and to make the working conditions even better.
