Heavy rains expected in the following counties


Kenyans living in the following places to expect heavy rainfall as from tomorrow, 13th December 2021. In a statement released by KMD through the official website, more rainfall is expected to persist over several parts of Nairobi, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, Mombasa, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Marsabit, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Samburu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and Laikipia counties.


Therefore Kenyans in the above mentioned counties have been urged to take advantage of the rains in planting trees and other crops. However KMD has warned against negative impacts caused by heavy rains like floods.

Also isolated storms are expected over several parts of Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Murang’a, Nairobi, Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Kirinyaga, Meru, Samburu and Marsabit counties.



Few places in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties are expected to be generally sunny and nights showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur. However, morning rains as well as afternoon showers are expected to occur over few places during the second half of the forecast period.

Other counties including Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi are likely to occur over few places during the second half of forecast period. Afternoon and night showers are expected to continue over several places within these regions.
