CS Mutahi Kagwe announces first case of Omicron Variant in Keny

Few weeks ago, South Africa became among the first countries in the world to announce the discovery of a new, rapidly spreading COVID-19 variant called Omicron after its medical sequencing experts discovered it.

The result was that several countries all over the world reacted by banning flights in and out of South Africa. Recently, the variant hit closer to home when neighboring Uganda also announced several cases of the scary COVID-19 variant.

And now, the government of Kenya through the ministry of health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe has come out to make an announcement on the entry and discovery of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in Kenya.

Kagwe reported that one person has tested positive for the variant that is currently doing rounds across the globe especially in the United kingdom.

“Kenya has detected the first case of Covid-19 Omicron variant, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced,” K24 reports.
