Man in Kirinyaga sets wife on fire

Grief has engulfed a village in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, on Monday after a man allegedly killed his wife.

James Wachira Muchiri, 45, who hails from Kithima village reportedly beat her wife – Charity Wangui, 37 – before setting their house on fire while she was inside, leading to her death.

Gichugu sub-County DCI boss Millicent Ochuka, confirming the incident, says the man used a panga to cut off both of Wangui’s hands before razing down the house using petrol, in a suspected family dispute.

“We have arrested the suspect and he is being held at Kianyaga Police Station,” Ochuka said.

the deceased’s body has been moved to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.

Chief killed in same area 3 days ago
This is not the first shocking incident that has happened in the same area.

Three days ago, Kiamugumi Assistant Chief Dennis Magu was reportedly killed by his wife in a suspected domestic wrangle.

Last month, a man in the same constituency confessed to killing his wife and four children.

“I’m worried! Right now we are investigating three murder incidents in Gichugu,” Ochuka added.
