Heavily armed Al-Shabaab kidnap two pastors who were preaching in the forest

Two pastors were on Wednesday morning kidnapped by heavily armed suspected Al Shabaab militants said to be linked to the death of seven people this week.



Police in Lamu County yesterday launched a trace for two men of God whisked away by heavily armed assailants.

Three clergymen, all preachers, were said to abducted by the suspects in Kibokoni, Hindi division, Lamu West, at around 5pm on Tuesday while preaching but one flee and filed the report to the police.



Lamu County Police Commander Moses Muriithi yesterday told the press that the hunt was still ongoing with the assistance of the pastor who flee from the abductors.



The trio were in a forest in Kibokoni preaching the word when they were kidnapped.

“We got wind of kidnapping ordeal by suspected attackers in the forest,”Mr Muriithi said.


The incident has sparked alot of fear among Kibokoni locals and neighbouring areas.

On Tuesday evening, locals in Hindi were forced to remain at home as early as 6pm for fearing they might be kidnapped and shot dead by the attackers.

A local chief attached to Hindi town told the press that tension was simmering in the region, just few days after the seven killings in Lamu this week.
